![]() I'm just really disappointed that not all the content is on disk. I mean, I do have access to all the content once I punched the DLC code. Even more surprising, you are literally greeted by a MK11 Ultimate splash screen when you install the game first, without the voucher, without any patch downloaded yet. How is this shit even fucking possible? I thought the PS5 only had a single SKU for physical copies? *searches online quickly* Yep, doesn't seem like there is another SKU available, a standard version if you would like. Let's go with Rambo-wait what the fuck? He's locked? How is that possible? Wait what I have to pay for him? Is this a fucking joke? Don't tell me I have to - *looks at the voucher in the box* - Yep, it's a fucking DLC voucher needed to access both Kombat Pass contents as well as the Aftermath Xpac + Characters. Ok there you go., Everything seems to be unlocked now. Okay, I've been playing for nearly an hour, yup, the game is done installing. Other than that, the gameplay appears to be running at a locked 4K60 with maxed out settings for PC equivalent port, which is impressive by itself. It's a bit bullshit to me, but you know, ohhhhhhhhkay, I'll deal with it. The intros/fatal blows/outros are still running at 30 fps, unlike the PC version which runs those at 60 fps. No biggie, I just ended up doing some local matches with the roaster I was allowed to use.įirst disappointment for me. You need to wait about 30 minutes to let the game install everything. In fact, the game is installed, but not really. Now, I must admit, I already owned MK11 before so I knew what was happening. Only local play seems to be allowed and then when you pick up that option, you only have access to 10 characters or so. Geez, the installation is rather quick! You then start the game and are greeted by the splash screen! FUCK YEAH, MK11 ULTIMATE! Bring it on! Now, you navigate the game and then -oh wait what's going on? Everything seems to be greyed out. You then insert the disk on the PS5 and then the installation begins. No problem, probably some pre-order bonuses like a skin or 2, etc. Screen Rant was provided with a copy of the game on PS5 for review purposes.First of all, when you open your copy, you are greeted with a disk and a small voucher. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Next: Every MK11 Friendship (Including Rambo's) Explained By Creator Ed Boon Publisher WB Games deserves kudos for applying a much more consumer-friendly, piecemealed rendition of the Street Fighter iterative formula to Mortal Kombat, with a complete package that screams "get over here" to those that have yet to dive in. Essentially, this is a free rebranding that offers an optimized experience (and the option to then purchase the three new fighters) that doesn't force consumers to re-buy the entire game again. Despite this, the entire package remains a forward-thinking and user-friendly initiative. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition is quite clearly a means of selling the same game to those that have (for whatever reason) not yet taken the gore-filled plunge into NetherRealm's latest fight title. This is a much-needed quality of life adjustment that may go unnoticed to many, but one that drastically improves the health and long-term viability of the community. This alteration has made the online landscape a much more bountiful one, with a broader range of players across all skillsets. Much like Fortnite and Call of Duty before it, MK11 now allows players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S to duke it out online against one another. One of the less noticeable changeups with the Ultimate Edition upgrade comes in the form of krossplay support. Perhaps a Kombat Pack 3 will rectify some of these oversights (and add another guest character or two like the l ong-rumored Ash Williams from The Evil Dead), but for now, it's hard to express much disappointment in the characters present. It's an impressive gallery, but one that still feels a little odd with exclusions like Reptile and Goro. It's a lot to choose from, with a lineup consisting of classic fighters like Johnny Cage and Scorpion and guests like RoboCop and Spawn. The addition of these kombatants brings the roster count up to 37 total characters.
